Tanya Silvio: (Owner/Artistic Director)
Tanya trained formally with the Festival Ballet of Rhode Island under the direction of Christine Hennessey and Winthrop Corey. During this time, she performed the role of Clara in “The Nutcracker”. She has also spent many years training in Tap, Jazz and Lyrical under Kelly Cannone and master teachers such as Frank Hatchett, John Crutchman, Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, Dan Karaty, Mia Michaels, Joe Lanteri and many others. At age 14, Tanya performed on a cultural exchange tour of Copenhagen, Minsk and Moscow. She is a former Miss Dance Olympus, a two-time winner of the American Dance Awards “Dancer of the Year” title, and has performed on the Tremaine and Dance Olympus instructional dance videos as a competition high score winner.
A certified instructor through the Dance Teachers Club of Boston, Tanya has also received numerous awards as a teacher/choreographer. Her students have been invited to perform at Eurodisney. They have been overall high score winners at numerous competitions including Dance America and International Dance Challenge. Most recently, the Danceology Competition Team has made its second appearance on the International Dance Challenge Television Spectacular.
Cheryl Halliwell:
Cheryl received much of her formal training in Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical under the direction of Gerrianne Genga and Kelly Cannone, while also furthering her education with top instructors such as Charles Kelley, Barry Lather, Frank Hatchett, Dan Karaty, Joe Lanteri, Joe Tremaine, John Crutchman and Alan Sherfield to name a few. Among her specialties are Acrobatics training and spotting for upper-level students using a 6-level program. Cheryl has received her training and spotting techniques from Stephanie Kemp and also from members of the Ringling Brothers Circus. She is a former New England National Jazz Dance Champion and the recipient of numerous awards as a competitive dancer. Cheryl has performed with Rhode Island College under the direction of Angelica Vessella, Elizabeth Streb and Dante Deljuidice, and has toured with Paul Osbourne Productions as a dancer/acrobat/illusionist. As a teacher/choreographer, Cheryl has been able to showcase her other specialty, Jazz/Hip-Hop. She has been the recipient of “Best Choreography” awards and has coached high scoring soloists.
